Navarro County Emergency Management Coordinator / LEPC Chairperson

Responsibilities:      Coordinate and administer a comprehensive emergency management program covering the aspects of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation to all types of emergencies and disasters for the County of Navarro and all jurisdictions taking part in the Navarro County Interjurisdictional Emergency Management Program.  Responsible for the development and implementation of the county emergency management plan and all aspects of that plan.  Also responsible for direction of Homeland Security activities for Navarro County.

Organizational
Relationships:                     

1.        Reports to County Judge.

2.        Directs Emergency Management Personnel

3.        Coordinates with all county department chiefs and/or their representatives on all issues concerning emergency management and homeland security.

 

General Statement of Duties:   This is a vital supervisory position concerning emergency management.  Duties include, but are not limited to; Development and implementation of a county emergency management program; development and implementation of a emergency management plan; training officials on emergency management issues that are related to their jurisdictional duties; coordinating with and assisting all county public safety agencies on training and regulations; serve as a public information officer in disaster situations; coordination of homeland security activities; coordination with Local Emergency Planning Committee; and provide public education tools and direction concerning emergency and disaster information.                 

                                               
Required educational background:  Minimum of a Bachelors degree in emergency management planning, or public administration.    

Skills and abilities:        

Must be familiar with all areas of emergency management and have made suitable proficiency in the classes recommended by the TXGDEM and FEMA.  At least 3 years of experience in a related lead emergency management position is required.
